Bruce has gotten into the practice of lending his name to crappy B-movie efforts, giving up 5 minutes of screen time, then cashing his check. He doesn't even try any more. There's nothing more to say about this movie other than its not worth the electricity consumed to project it on the screen. It was Bruce Willis' 60th birthday the other day, so I thought why not watch one of his most recent projects. "Vice", however, is a movie that has him more of a silent character pulling the strings in the background. The action sequences include mostly Thomas Jane. Now Jane vs. Willis could have been a really great showdown, but sadly the action and developments in this movie are so confusing that I lost interest pretty quickly. I have to say I am far from a great science-fiction fan, but even the greatest buffs of the genre were probably confused by the action and had problems of grasping what is actually going on. Also, you never know who is good and who is bad. Now that is not always a problem if characters are written in ways which make them look neither all white or black, but something in-between, but here it was so awkward that you really had no clue who to cheer for or against.
Director Brian A. Miller has been behind the camera for 6 films already since 2010 and written 4 more, even acted occasionally in these. Very prolific. But maybe he should go a bit slower and use more precision as his last works have almost exclusively been panned by critics although he had some experienced actors in the cast of these films and it's also not the first time he worked with Willis. Not much difference here. Thomas Jane has a couple good scenes when he was on cop duty, but it just isn't enough. Not even close. At least the film was over before the 100-minute mark. Not recommended, unless for fans of "Ray Donovan" maybe as this film features a trio of actors from this series. Vice is a low-budget sci-fi thriller that borrows heavily from
